Dr. Anindita Saha

Museologist | Independent Environmental Researcher I Educator

I am a dedicated Museologist with a deep passion for cultural and natural heritage conservation. My work explores the intersection of environmental challenges and heritage preservation, with a strong focus on climate change and sustainable development.

 

As an independent researcher, I actively engage in studying these critical issues while using visual storytelling and my expertise in museums to foster community engagement. Through my work, I aim to bridge the gap between history, environment, and sustainability, creating meaningful conversations that inspire awareness and action.

Work Experience

Guest Faculty – Ancient Indian & World History Department, Sanskrit College & University, Kolkata

Current Research

As a Senior Research Associate on the Mangrove School Project (Centre for World Environmental History, University of Sussex, UK), I am committed to co-learning and co-creating knowledge with children and youth in the climate-vulnerable Sundarbans region. My work focuses on empowering communities through education, fostering resilience, and promoting sustainable environmental practices.

Previous Experience

Research Associate – TAPESTRY Project (Institute of Development Studies, Sussex

University) Investigating how communities in vulnerable ecosystems adapt, build resilience, and

navigate environmental uncertainties.

Project Manager- Hope in the present: uncertain pedagogies for youth and community resilience

(Department of Education, School of Education and Social Work, University of Sussex.

Research Associate – Botanical and Meteorological History of the Indian Ocean (University of

Sussex) Contributing to a multidisciplinary approach to understanding environmental history in the

Indian Ocean region.

Project Coordinator – Education & Environmental Awareness Programme (Botanical Survey of

India) Leading initiatives to enhance public understanding of environmental issues and conservation

strategies.

Research Assistant – Survey of Bengal Punthis Discovered in Sundarbans (Endangered Archives

Programme, British Library) Preserving cultural heritage threatened by environmental change

through archival research and documentation.
